Sofas & Sofa Beds in Zurich

Sofa Beds and Sofas in Zurich – Try Them and Get Honest Advice

You don't buy a sofa from a product photo: seat depth, upholstery and fabric are only decided once you've sat down. In our showroom at Nüschelerstrasse 30 – a five-minute walk from Zurich Main Station – designer sofas, sofa beds and armchairs by Flou from Italy are ready to try, without an appointment. Then there's the question many Zurich flats raise: should the sofa be a bed at night? We give honest advice on that too – including what a sofa bed can do, and what it can't.

Buying a sofa in Zurich: trying it decides

A sofa is hard to judge from a distance. Seat height and seat depth decide whether you sit upright or sink in; the upholstery decides how that feels after two hours; the armrest and back height decide whether you can lie on it too. That's why our showroom at Nüschelerstrasse 30 isn't a catalogue to look at, but a space to try things out: 430 square metres, a five-minute walk from Zurich Main Station, Monday to Friday 10 am to 7 pm and Saturday 10 am to 6 pm. You need no appointment to try a sofa. If you bring a floor plan or photos, you'll also get an assessment of which size fits the room – and which doesn't.

Sofa beds in Zurich: what a pull-out sofa can really do

A sofa bed has to do two things that pull against each other: sit well by day, lie well by night. So we're open about where the limit lies. Pull-out sofas work with foam mattresses – it's practically the only place in our range where foam-only mattresses appear; for beds we consistently use spring-core and multi-layer spring systems. For guests, a home office or a second home, a sofa bed is a good solution. As a main bed for every night, we do not recommend it – that's what we carry beds for. Which mechanism, sleeping size and finish make sense, we work out with you by trying and pulling it out in the showroom, not on the phone.

Corner sofa, two-seater or a modular programme?

"Which size fits?" is the most common question – and it can only be answered with the room, not with a rule. A corner sofa organises an open living-dining area and creates an extra sleeping surface, but needs wall length and a floor plan that can take the corner. A two- or three-seater leaves pathways free and reads as calmer in smaller Zurich flats. Modular programmes sit in between: they're assembled from elements and can be rearranged later. Which sizes and configurations are possible in the current programme, we work out in the consultation – including orientation, seat depth and armrest width. Bring your floor plan, and we'll go through the options directly.

Choosing fabric, leather and configuration

A sofa is rarely a finished product, but a configuration: cover, colour, dimensions, feet. Covers in fabric or leather are best chosen with the sample in your hand, not on a screen, because every screen shows colours differently. In daily life, three questions matter: how does the cover feel, how does it hold up in a household with children or a dog, and how does it sit with the light in the room? We go through these points with you in the showroom. Once the configuration is set, we give a binding price and delivery time – for stock items just as for ordered finishes.

Delivery, assembly and advice

Delivery and assembly are handled by our own team and our own logistics, Switzerland-wide and usually within 48 hours – Zurich included. That's possible because many products are available in stock; whether a particular model is currently in stock in the finish you want, we tell you on the day. Stock items are delivered as soon as payment is received. For larger purchases, part payment is possible: a deposit on order, the balance before delivery. Advice is given in English, German, French and Italian. If you're planning not just a sofa but a whole room, the initial consultation, a first visit to your home and the initial concept are available free of charge.

Frequently asked questions

Can I try sofas in Zurich without an appointment?

Yes. In the Imperial Interiors showroom at Nüschelerstrasse 30, 8001 Zürich, you can try sofas without booking ahead – Monday to Friday 10 am to 7 pm, Saturday 10 am to 6 pm, a five-minute walk from the main station. For an in-depth interior consultation, an appointment is worthwhile.

Is a sofa bed suitable as a daily bed?

As a guest bed, for a home office or a second home, yes. As a main bed for every night, we do not recommend it: pull-out sofas work with foam mattresses, while for beds we use spring-core and multi-layer spring systems.

Do you also carry corner sofas?

The programme covers various sizes and modular layouts. Whether a corner version is possible in your preferred finish and fits your floor plan, we work out in the consultation in our Zurich showroom – ideally with a floor plan or measurements.

How long does delivery of a sofa in Zurich take?

Delivery and assembly are handled by our own team Switzerland-wide, usually within 48 hours. That's possible because many products are available in stock; whether your preferred finish is in stock, we tell you on the day. Individually ordered configurations need production time accordingly.

What does a sofa cost at Imperial Interiors?

The price depends on model, size and cover, so we only give it for a specific configuration – but then binding and broken down transparently. For larger purchases, part payment is possible: a deposit on order, the balance before delivery.
