Dining Tables in Zurich
Buying a Dining Table in Zurich – From Size to Delivery
Two questions decide the right dining table: how many people will regularly sit at it, and how much room is left around it to get up? Both can be settled in ten minutes – ideally with the floor plan on the table. In our showroom at Nüschelerstrasse 30 in Zurich we show dining tables by Dallagnese from Friuli: touch them, check the edges, take a seat – just let us know beforehand which model interests you, and we'll have it ready. Delivery and setup are handled throughout Switzerland by our own team.
Size First: How Many Seats, How Much Room
As a rule of thumb, we work with around 60 centimetres of table edge per person and about 80 centimetres of clearance to the wall or nearest piece of furniture, so chairs can be pushed back. A table for six people therefore often measures 180 to 200 centimetres in length – but the room, not the catalogue, is what decides. If you rarely need to seat more, an extendable table serves you better than a permanently long top. Round or rectangular is also a question of space: round tables need more floor area but seat people more evenly. We work through this using your floor plan before we talk about models.
Materials Worth Feeling for Yourself
A tabletop is used every day, and that shows after a few years – for better or worse. Solid wood moves, develops a patina and can later be sanded down. Veneer stays more dimensionally stable and is lighter. Ceramic is heat-resistant and easy to care for; glass is also easy to care for, but doesn't tolerate hot pots placed directly on it. We'll tell you which finishes a model allows, based on the manufacturer's documentation and the samples we have in the showroom. What suits your household – children, an open kitchen, working from the dining table – becomes clear faster in person: feel the edge, turn the surface towards the light, check how a chair really fits underneath.

Frequently asked questions
Which dining table size suits six people?
As a guide, allow around 60 centimetres of table edge per person; for six people that gives a length of about 180 to 200 centimetres. Add around 80 centimetres of clearance from walls and furniture so chairs can be pushed back. In tight spaces, an extendable table is the more practical solution. At Imperial Interiors in Zurich we work through this using your floor plan.
Where can I view dining tables in Zurich?
At the Imperial Interiors showroom, Nüschelerstrasse 30 in 8001 Zürich, a five-minute walk from the main station – Monday to Friday 10 am to 7 pm, Saturday 10 am to 6 pm. You need no appointment for a look around; for an in-depth consultation, it's better to arrange a time. Advice is available in English, German, French or Italian.
How long does delivery of a dining table take?
If the model is in stock, Imperial Interiors' own team delivers and assembles it Switzerland-wide, usually within 48 hours. Individually configured tables – a particular length, top material or frame colour – need production time at the manufacturer; we give you the binding date together with the quotation.
Can I pay for a dining table in instalments?
Part payment is available at Imperial Interiors; the terms are set out in the quotation. Stock items are delivered as soon as payment is received. Raise it with us at the showroom at Nüschelerstrasse 30 in Zurich or by phone, before the order is placed.
Free and without obligation – showroom visits also welcome without appointment.
